house of imagination

This is another last minute tip for art in Berlin - Torstraße 166 is a typical old building in Mitte where the old inhabitants had to move out to make space for a renovation. The Berlin based advertising agency Heimat had a great idea while organising the marketing campaign for German hardware store Hornbach - they gave the empty apartments to 12 artists to tranform the typical Berlin appartment into a space displaying their work.
Until Sunday, 12th Oct, you can visit this 12 different apartments - my highlights were the work of Chiharu Shiota (picture above), Laura Kikauka and Raumlabor. You'll find more pics on my Flickr.
Kikauka filled the rooms with a lot of trash, kitsch and many hand written notes - it was almost impossible for me to get a good picture out of it, but I loved it!
Raumlabor built rooms into the rooms using old doors from Plattenbauten (I suppose..).
