Gespenster

Since my movie-friend looked at me with that kind of surprise that says, "where did you live the last years?", as I admitted that Jerichow was my first experience of a Christian Petzold movie, I had to eliminate that and started with his third big movie, Gespenster (ghosts) yesterday.
In my humble opinion, the movie is a very German one, although I am not quite able to describe what that would mean - maybe taken back dialogues (the most is not articulated, rather than articulated), absent explanations and answers, plain mimics and restrained action - is that German? At least it's something I associate with German cinema.
It's difficult to sum the story up, since it would not even come close to what the movie is or wants to be - the camera work by Hans Fromm is as beautiful and supporting as in Jerichow, the actors Julia Hummer and Sabine Timoteo are a perfect match and the overall mood is absorbing.
Next one to watch will be Der freie Wille by Matthias Glasner, staring Sabine Timoteo.

Hihi.

Wo genau warst Du die letzten fünf Jahre noch gleich? Die Frau heißt Julia Hummer.

Allerherzlichst,
Nana Karenina
