sunset needed

venice sept 09

I don't consider Venice being one of the most beautiful or, even less, romantic cities of the world. To me it's a rather stressful conglomerate of narrow streets, annoying tourists, smelly canals, overpriced bad food, where you constantly lose your way or fall into tourist traps, decorated with tasteless masks and gondolas and a lot of overweight Americans. This results is me being constantly stressed out during day time, trying to find my way to the next exhibition or to decent food. I would never go there, if it wasn't for the Biennale. That being said, I have to admit there is not only San Marco or the Rialto bridge - in fact, if you cross the Rialto bridge it instantly gets better and you start to get a glimpse of what Venice could be like if it wasn't hundreds of years ago marked the most beautiful town in Europe. Especially after sunset. So, I start relaxing at night, after two Spritz and a decent dinner in one of the few fine restaurants (will tell you more of that later) and only at night I regain my will to take pictures. The results are presented here.
