New season

rhubarb

Look what they offered this morning at the fabulous Broadway market - rhubarb. A sign of spring. A certain sign for everything will be fine in the end. The sun is here too. People ride their bikes, have coffee outside and buy rhubarb. Winter won't be here forever, although it feels like it. There is hope!

ps, didn't get into Mary Katrantzou's or Mark Fast's show today.

In Great Britain now.

Bild 7

I am in London and saw my first show today, it was David Koma who presented pretty austere dresses decorated with comic-like zig-zags. The atmosphere in New York is different to the atmosphere here. London seems as equally excited, but less commercially interested. While New Yorkers prefer to combine perfect hairstyles and make-up with brandloaded outfits, adjusting themselves to reported trends and looks of the season, a lot of people in London have a lot of fun with dressing up as crazily as possible, detaching themselves from any known rules or patterns. Which is certainly more energetic than New York's regular approach.

On my way to...

This is a scheduled posting, I am on my way to New York to attend the Evolving Influence Fashion Blog Conference. I will be joining the panel on "Navigating Blog Ethics", monday from 3pm. There will be a lifestream and the possibility to join in via Twitter using #IFBcon. See you in NYC!

I hope, when she gets dumped so cruely, as she will be, no doubt, by all the fashion people who've written her up, she can sort of cope with that.

So said Suzy Menkes in November. And it is happening faster than I would have thought:

Sarah McCullough, Selfridges' creative concepts manager and an avid blog reader, said: "It's mind-blowing that bloggers like Tavi are at the couture shows and being showered with all kinds of gifts. It has soured things a little bit for me."

From: Susie Mesure - "Fluff flies as fashion writers pick a cat fight with bloggers".

I already said it on the panel - corruption of writers is a major problem of the fashion media system, not of bloggers alone, it is just more visible now.

Best comment (of course): Amy Odell for The Cut.

Sugar man, won't you hurry

'cos i'm tired of these scenes
For a blue coin won't you bring back
All those colors to my dreams.

Silver magic ships you carry
Jumpers, coke, sweet mary jane

Lyrics: Rodriguez - Sugar Man

Wunderkinder
